What is Swedish massage – Swedish massage in London

Swedish Massage involves a number of techniques that aim to relax muscles by applying pressure to them. All the methods used in Swedish massage involve moving the pressure in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart.

Swedish massage first started in the 1700’s by Per Henrik Ling, who was a Swedish doctor. Swedish massage has grown in popularity and its one of the most common forms of massage therapy in London.

How do Massage Therapists perform Swedish massage?

– Before the start of the massage session, the therapist normally starts with a consultation and will ask about any history of previous physical injuries.
– During a Swedish massage session you generally don’t wear any clothing, and are underneath a towel.
– The therapist rubs the skin with massage oil and performs various massaging movements. These movements warm up the muscle tissue, releasing tension and gradually relieving the muscle ‘knots’ in the body.
